My first taste of Dogfish Head IPA - What a treat!

Submitted by Justinian on January 14, 2007 - 5:58pm.

Last night we went over to a friends house in Centennial to celebrate another friend's birthday. We were asked to bring something to drink, so I stopped at Liquor Barn on south Broadway to pick up a six pack. I was very pleasantly surprised when I stumbled upon two shelves of Dogfish Head beer. I was even more happy when I saw that they had not only the 60-minute, but also the 90-minute IPA! So I picked up the 60-minute for the party and the 90-minute for myself. I don't think anyone at the party appreciated the beer, except for my friend Adam, who wasn't drinking that night. Sadly, I left the three beers I didn't drink in the fridge.

Holy Crap it's cold!

And it doesn't look like it's gonna get any warmer any time soon.

Thankfully I've got some Never Summer Ale from the Boulder Beer Co. It's part of their Looking Glass series, which also features one of my favorite beers - Hazed and Infused.

Romulan Ale in Las Vegas

Me enjoying a Romulan AleOK, so this has nothing to do with Colorado, but it sort of has to do with beer. Hey give me points for trying...

So I was in Las Vegas over the weekend to attend the Consumer Electronics Show. The show itself was pretty awesome. Every imaginable (and some unimaginable) gadget was there. The fact that I got the stomach flu sucked, but that's another story.

You can't go wrong at Pints Pub

So last Saturday, my wife and I finally got to see the new Denver Art Museum building. It was very impressive. The only complaint I have is that you spend as much time looking at the building as you do the artwork.

A visit to North Star Brewpub

Submitted by Justinian on January 5, 2007 - 9:29am.

So ever since I read JB's account of the North Star Brew Pub on this site, I've been meaning to get over there and try it out.
So I got the chance last night with a couple of friends. The pub's (at 3200 Tejon) in a funky neighborhood just west of downtown. My buddy who grew up in North Denver said it used to be the kind of place where you didn't want to hang out, but now the neighborhood is filling in with yuppies - The big lofts next to the pub seem to validate that claim.

Winter Brew Fest at the Oriental, Walking with Johhnie

I remember a buddy of mine telling me how he used to sit in the balcony of the Oriental Theater at 44th and Tennyson and smoke pot. Wasn't it also a church at one time? Anyway, it looks like they're back in the entertainment biz.

Kerouac's coming back to Denver

Submitted by Justinian on December 30, 2006 - 10:45am.

I try to read Jack Kerouac's On The Road at least once a year (Usually in the antsy days of Spring). I didn't get around to it this year, so after I catch up on all my beer reading I might pick it up (It'll probably be Spring by then).

A forum discussing NBB 2 Below

I'm a hophead, not a malthead, so I really enjoyed New Belgium's 2 below seasonal brew.
Here's a link to a discussion on the topic.

Colorado had a dry town?

Submitted by Justinian on December 27, 2006 - 6:54pm.

So Colorado's only dry town decided to join the rest of the state and allow people to sell booze. What took them so long?
Where the Hell is Orchard City anyway?
