Dogfish Head

Finally, I'm a member of the (DogFish Head 120 minute) IPA elite

Sitting in front of me is a glass of Dogfish Head 120 Imperial IPA.

The wait is finally over.

For those who don't know anything about this beer, here are some facts: It's continually hopped for the duration of its 120-minute boil and then dry-hopped for an entire month. It's a very strong beer weighing in at 20% abv. It is, according to the label, the Holy Grail for hopheads.

This is looking to be an excellent beer weekend.

I finally got my hands on a DogFish Head 120 IPA. Thanks, anonymous tipster and thank you, Joe for picking it up at Merchant of Vino. It was $8.50 for a 12-ounce bottle! Joe also picked up some Steamworks Third Eye Pale Ale and Great Divide Hercules Double IPA.

There's no shortage of hops (or alcohol) in that list!

For Valentine's Day, I got a sixer of Fort Collins Brewery's Chocolate Stout.

Collaboration not Litigation Ale

You know, sometimes breweries do some pretty cool stuff. Check out Avery Brewing Co's Collaboration not Litigation Ale. The short version is that Avery and Russian River Brewing both have a Belgium beer called Salvation Ale. Instead of one of the breweries relinguishing the rights, they decided to mix the beers.

No Dogfish Head 120, yet - NBB Trippel instead

So I called up the liquor store closest to my house which I thought might be able to get the Dogfish Head 120 and the guy said it wouldn't be a problem. I stopped in last night and saw a shelf of Dogfish Head 4-packs and I got excited! But it was just the 90. I tried talking to the guy about the 120, but he was too busy flirting with the chick that also works there to pay attention to me.

Take this Dogfish Head! Bristol's trying to out-stout you!

OK. I have no idea if Bristol's trying to out-stout DogFish Head, but check this out from Bristol's e-newsletter:

My first taste of Dogfish Head IPA - What a treat!

Last night we went over to a friends house in Centennial to celebrate another friend's birthday. We were asked to bring something to drink, so I stopped at Liquor Barn on south Broadway to pick up a six pack. I was very pleasantly surprised when I stumbled upon two shelves of Dogfish Head beer. I was even more happy when I saw that they had not only the 60-minute, but also the 90-minute IPA! So I picked up the 60-minute for the party and the 90-minute for myself. I don't think anyone at the party appreciated the beer, except for my friend Adam, who wasn't drinking that night. Sadly, I left the three beers I didn't drink in the fridge.
