Springtime in the Rockies

Man is it nice out! It's patio time in Colorado.
It doesn't get much better than sitting outside in the sun drinking a nice cold beer.
For those of us lucky enough to live or work in Golden, there's a little place we call the Yard. The Yard is also known as Golden City Brewery and it got its nickname because it sits in brewer Charlie's backyard.
On a Friday afternoon like this last one, the place is standing room only packed. People sit on the ground, on the fence, wherever. We were lucky enough to score a table when a couple guys left.
I usually order the IPA, which in my opinion is one of the best around. This time, though all Charlie had was a double IPA, which he doesn't sell in pitchers (It's pretty tasty and high in alcohol). There was a Chai Brown on tap, which sounded pretty good. Boy was it tasty! It's got a nice Chai aroma and the first taste is all chai, but don't get me wrong, this ale is all beer.
If you get a chance head up to Golden City and give it a shot.

I'm on board with Charlie's IPA being among the best. I've spent a few Friday afternoons sipping that charged up brew with Colorado School of Mines' students, local business types and other people who appreciate real beer.
Golden City: Keeping it small, keeping it outdoors and keeping it really tasty.
