The North Star BP is open!
Submitted by JB Morrissey on November 8, 2006 - 9:03am.Colorado breweries
Tucked into Denver's Highland neighborhood is Colorado's newest brewpub. The North Star is a bright and cheerful two room brew place on the corner of 32nd and Tejon. It has a neighborhood coffee shop feel to it. Brewer Kyle Carstens is the beerman at North Star. He spent 15 years brewing at Wynkoop before opening his own place and he knows his beer. It's going to be a week or two before Kyle's beers are on tap. In the meantime, grab a brew out of one of the guest taps. Ska's Pinstripe Red Ale, Odell's 5 Barrel Pale Ale, Breckenridge's 471 Small Batch and a good Hefeweizen from Gordon Biersch are all pouring. I also saw a tap for Black Butte Porter from Deschutes Brewery in Bend, Oregon, but it wasn't installed yet...(sigh) You will find a number of micros in the cooler. They even stock cans of PBR, Schlitz and Hamm's, just in case you find yourself in a retro mood. Food wise, don't just expect pub grub. The chef at the North Star has been working hard and this brewpub has a nice, full menu for either lunch or dinner. The North Star is a brewer's brewpub. It's easy to find, right on the corner of 32nd and Tejon, just a couple blocks west of I-25 at 20th Street. North Star Brewpub, 3200 Tejon in Denver. They open at 11am. JB |
