[img_assist|nid=358|title=|desc=|link=none|align=right|width=76|height=100]Colorado breweries received more medals at the 2006 Great American Beer Festival than any other state except California.
Colorado brewers took home 28 medals; 10 gold, 7 silvers and 11 bronze.
Not bad for a state with just over 4 million people. California on the other hand is the largest state in the union with nearly 34 million people. California brewers will head back to the pacific with 39 medals.
Coors Brewing Co., led the pack of Colorado breweries with three Gold Medals; two for Blue moon varieties and one for SandLot’s Schtolen Pils.
Technically Sandlot entered as its own, so Coors Tied with New Blegium, which won gold Medals for 'Le Fleur Misseur and La Folie.
Great Divide Brewing Co. won three medals total; a gold for Old Ruffian Barley Wine, a silver for Hibernation Ale 2005 and a bronze for Denver Pale Ale.
Odell’s Doug Odell and American Homebrewing Association Member Ryan Thomas took home a Bronze medal for their Whale’s Tail Pale Ale in the Pro-Am Competition.
