The folks at Oskar Blues Brewery in Lyons have come up with a way for us to open up a 12-pack and enjoy it on the way home without breaking any laws.
The nation’s first microcanning craft brewery released the seventh of its Singing 12-pack series on May 18. The 12-packs contain a 12-song, limited-release compilation CD, which features new songs from 10 Colorado bands and two national bands.
“Life without great beer and music is not living, says Oskar Blues founder Dale Katechis. “And the best beer and music is made by passionate people in small batches. With our Singing 12-Packs we help great local bands gain new fans, and we give our beer lovers fresh, full-flavored music.
The Singing 12-packs of Dale’s Pale Ale and Old Chub Scottish Style Ale are only available in Colorado.
Oskar Blues worked with Boulder’s Marquee Magazine, whose staff chose the tracks for the disc.
“It’s our job to let people along the Front Range know about the best music, said Marquee co-publisher Dan Cohen. “There are many exceptional bands here in Colorado, and teaming up with Oskar Blues for a Singing 12-Pack is a great way for us to expose people to those bands.
Colorado artists on the CD include Great American Taxi (featuring Vince Herman of Leftover Salmon), neo-honkytonk heroes the Railbenders, rockabilly powerhouse 18 Wheeler, “porch music aces Oakhurst, and trad-country flag wavers Halden Wofford & the Hi Beams.
Other local acts include hard rockers Anava, world-music rocker Beto Hale, eclectic-acoustic group Zebra Junction, groove masters Polytoxic and dance club favorites Funkiphino. The national acts include roots rockers Remedy Motel and fast-rising indie rockers Margot & the Nuclear So and So’s.
The new Singing 12-Packs are available at select retailers along the Front Range, including Applejack Wine & Spirits, Argonaut Liquors, Boulder Liquor Mart, Colorado Liquor Mart, Morgan’s Liquors, North Boulder Liquor Mart, Superior Liquor, Wilbur’s Total Beverage, Liquor Depot, Supermarket Liquors, Liquor Land, Twin Peaks Liquors and others.
