[img_assist|nid=127|title=Conductor|desc=|link=node|align=left|width=83|height=100]There’s not much better than sipping a beer during a lazy summer day in Durango. Add a little music to the mix and you’re in paradise.
In honor of the 20th Anniversary of Music in the Mountains, Durango’s premier classical music festival, Steamworks Brewing Co. has created a special, hand-crafted beer, appropriately named, The Conductor.
The Conductor is an aromatic and bold ale in the tradition of an Imperial Pale Ale and features three “All American varieties of hops: Warrior™, Tomahawk, and Simcoe ™.
“The brewers focused in on the key notes of each hop variety, and in timely fashion, incorporated them in the boil for the best possible interplay of aromatics and bitterness with the malt extraction, said Brian McEachron, director of sales and marketing, who also contributed his expertise and experience in the beer’s development. “Our brewers’ work results in a floral performance of bittersweet harmony. Bravo, team. Bravo.
You’ll have to take a road trip for this one. The Conductor is only available in bomber bottles at Steamworks Brewing Co. brewpubs and at Durango Mountain Resort from late June 2006 through Music in the Mountains’ summer series.
Steamworks Brewing Co. – celebrating its 10-year anniversary in 2006 – is located at 801 E. Second. Ave., Durango (970-259-9200), and 442 Wolverine Drive in Bayfield Center, Bayfield (970-884-7837).
