Denver was named #6 on The Orbitz.com Insider Index "Top Summer City Destinations" list.
We figured Denver would be atop this list. With nearly 100 microbreweries in the state, you can’t keep people away. There are hot days, cool nights and tasty beverages being brewed in every other county west of the Front Range. Notice Anchorage, Alaska, also is on the list - and to no one’s surprise, there are a dozen brew pubs in and around the small towns near Anchorage. Call us crazy but we fairly certain that good beer attracts folks who know how to have fun.

Guinness is hosting one of its Guinness Believer events at the Boulder Theatre, 2034 14th St, on four upcoming Thursday nights. Visit http://www.believerrsvp.com and use the password "Believer" to get in. You'll have to listen to someone from Guinness talk, but you'll get free beer. These things fill quickly, so visit the site soon. Here are the dates:

In the time it takes the average American to commute to work, they could visit the nearest brewery, according to the Boulder-based Brewers Association.
“In most communities, people pass within a few blocks of a brewery every day,� said Ray Daniels, Director of Craft Beer Marketing for the Brewers Association. “But because so many breweries are part of a restaurant or small business park, many people don’t realize that breweries are a part of their community.�

According to this article in the Denver Business Journal, Oskar Blues Brewery is now able to sell its beer in North Carolina. A state law, which prohibited selling any beer over 6% alcohol was changed last year, opening the door for Dales' Pale ale (6.5%) and Old Chub (8%) to be sold in the Tarheel State.

Four of the top-50 brewing companies are based in Colorado, according to the Brewers Association.
The association ranked the top-50 breweries in the country based on 2005 production volumes.
Coors Brewing Co, in Golden took third place on the list, behind Anheuser-Busch and Miller.

This week's Westword cover story is about Blake Harrison and his quest to let us buy beer on Sunday. He tried unsuccessfully in 2002, but this time around he's planning on getting support from the big-box grocery stores. The microbrewers are against it because they say letting grocery stores sell more than 3.2 beer will cause the neighborhood liquor stores to go out of business.

Here's a story that has the staff at Colorado Beer News wondering why this couldn't have happened to us.
According to an Associated Press article, Haldis Gundersen, a woman in Kristiandsund, Norway, turned on her kitchen faucet and lo and behold, a miracle happened -- the faucet was dispensing beer.

A new study is good news to us here at Colorado Beer News. Lipton Tea commissioned a beverage study that says that men can drink up to 24 ounces of beer, or 3 ounces of hard liquor a day.
The study also said that we can drink up to 40 ounces of coffee a day (More good news).
